SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State University football staff welcomed 105 players to campus on Tuesday as the 2003 squad reported for fall camp.
The Aztecs will spend most of their first two days on campus in orientation, completing paper work and meeting the media. The squad will hit the practice field for the first time at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The first of the two-a-day workouts will not be held until Monday due to new NCAA practice legislation.
The incoming squad features 82 scholarship players, 25 newcomers who signed national letters of intent and seven new walkons.
"You're always excited to get on the field and see how quickly your newcomers can get acclimated," said San Diego State head coach Tom Craft. "It will be our first good look at the newcomers and our first chance to see what kind of development was made by our returning players during the summer."
San Diego State's first major scrimmage of the fall will be at Family Day on Aug. 16th at Tony Gwynn Stadium. The festivities begin at 9:30 a.m.
