Armando Carrascosa Lifts Aztec Men's Tennis to 4-3 Win over Brigham Young

SAN DIEGO -- Sophomore Armando Carrascosa won a thrilling three-set match at number five singles to lift the 34th-ranked San Diego State men's tennis team to a 4-3 victory over 63rd-ranked Brigham Young on Friday night ion Provo, Utah.

Carrascosa rallied from one set down to post a 6-7, 6-2, 6-4 victory and break a three all tie and give San Diego State its seventh victory in its last eight matches. The Aztecs are now 12-9 overall and 3-1 in Mountain West Conference play while the Cougars fell to 8-10 and 1-1 in league play.

San Diego State dropped the doubles point despite getting a victory from the nation's top-ranked duo. Oliver Maiberger and Ryan Redondo improved to 23-7 on the season with a 9-7 victory over 18th-ranked Carlos Lozano and Erik Nyman at number one doubles. The Cougars claimed wins at two and three to take a 1-0 lead.

San Diego State, which entered the match with a 2-7 record when dropping the doubles point, rebounded to win four of six singles matches to claim victory. The Aztecs got wins from 32nd-ranked Maiberger, Redondo, Felix Hardt and Carrascosa to rally for the victory.

San Diego State is back in action on Saturday when the Aztecs play Utah in Provo.
