March 7, 2003

SAN DIEGO - The 29th-ranked San Diego State women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to No. 20 Washington today at the SDSU Courts. The defeat sends the Aztecs to 5-3 on the season, while the Huskies improve to 7-1.

The Huskies won the doubles point by winning the Nos. 2-3 matches. SDSU's bright spot on the day came in winning the No. 1 doubles match, as Silvia Tornier and Indra Erichsen defeated the nation's eighth-ranked duo of Claire Carter and Darija Klaic, 8-5.

Washington won each of the Nos. 1-5 singles matches, including the last three in straight sets. Tornier won the first set in No. 1 singles, but fell love and four to Carter. Erichsen gained SDSU's singles win at No. 6 with a four and two win over UW's Erin Hoe.

SDSU returns to action tomorrow against another Pac-10 team, No. 42 Washington State, for a 12 p.m. dual meet at the SDSU Courts.
