SDSU Men's Golf Tied For Eighth After 18 Holes Of Oregon Duck Invite

EUGENE, Ore. - With play running about one hour and 15 minutes behind schedule at the Oregon Duck Invitational, the San Diego State men's golf team completed its first round at seven-over 295 to stand in an eighth-place tie. The second round began immediately after the first and will continue until dark. Final second-round results will be posted on the official web site of Aztec athletics, www.goaztecs.com, if the round is finished later tonight.

The Aztecs are 10 shots back of host and defending champion Oregon, which shot a three-under 285 to take a five-shot lead over second-place Arizona.

SDSU has three players among the top 30, led by junior Mark Warman's (San Clemente, Calif./San Clemente HS) 1-under 71 that ties for ninth place. Warman stands five shots behind first-round co-leaders Bryant Reyes of San Jose State and Bjorn Widerstedt of Northwestern at six-under 66.

Senior John Lieber (San Diego, Calif./Grossmont HS) is among a group of eight golfers tied for 16th at even-par 72, including Golfweek and Golfstat No. 1 Brandt Snedeker of Vanderbilt. Senior John Lepak (La Habra Heights, Calif./Oregon State) is tied for 29th at two-over 74, while senior Lars Johansson (Karlskrona, Sweden/Champansholam HS) and sophomore Aaron Choi (San Diego, Calif./Torrey Pines HS) round out the Aztec lineup in a tie for 68th place at 78.

Redshirt freshman Andrew Scott (Henderson, Nev./Green Valley HS), competing as an individual, is tied for 59th after shooting a first-round 77.
