SDSU Men's Tennis Wins Third Straight Match with 5-2 Victory Over Princeton

SAN DIEGO -- The 37th-ranked San Diego State men's tennis team defeated 65th-ranked Princeton, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon in San Diego. It is a season-best third straight victory for the Aztecs which evens their season record at 8-8.

The Aztecs won all three doubles matches, including a showdown between ranked teams at number one. San Diego State's Oliver Maiberger and Ryan Redondo, ranked second nationally, defeated 31st-ranked duo of Trevor Smith and Josh Burman, 8-4. The Aztecs also received doubles wins from Daniel Jung and Armando Carrascosa at number two and Felix Hardt and Gabe Coren at number three.

In singles plays, the Aztecs received three straight set victories to clinch the match before the Tigers took two of the three three-set matches. San Diego State recorded wins by 53rd-ranked Maiberger at number one, Hardt at number three and Coren at number six to take a 4-0 lead in the match.

Redondo rallied from a set down to give the Aztecs their final point on the day, recording a 4-6, 7-6, 11-9 super-tiebreaker win over Josh Burman at number two singles.

The Aztecs will be back in action on Wednesday when SDSU entertains 52nd-ranked Harvard. Match time is set for 1:30 p.m.
