Women's Tennis Tops TCU, 4-3

SAN DIEGO - The No. 29 San Diego State women's tennis team defeated No. 30 TCU, 4-3, Friday afternoon at SDSU. With the win, the Aztecs improve to 8-3 on the season.

The Aztec pair of Silvia Tornier and Indra Erichsen, ranked No. 53 in the country, knocked off TCU's Perez/Aburto in the No. 1 seed of doubles action. SDSU pairs Karrento/Romero and Hedberg/Graf, however, fell in their respective doubles matches and TCU was awarded the doubles point.

Despite the loss in doubles action, Aztec Patricia Graf did claim victory in singles play, earning the deciding win for the Aztecs as she defeated TCU's Iris Jaklin in three sets (6-4, 2-6, 6-4) playing as the No. 5 seed. Aztec junior Lindsey Hedberg won her match in just one set, shutting out Saber Pierce, 6-0, in the first set before Pierce was forced to withdraw due to injury.

Junior Katja Karrento and Indra Erichsen round out the list of SDSU winners in singles action today. Karrento defeated her competitor, Karla Mancinas, in three sets while Erichsen won her match with Ivonne Andrade in two.

The women return to action on Monday when they square off against Princeton at 2 p.m. at SDSU.
