PROVO, Utah - Playing the conference's top two teams in back-to-back games, the San Diego State women's basketball dropped its fourth straight game to BYU Saturday 87-56 at the Marriott Center. With the loss, SDSU fell to 8-14 overall and 2-8 in MWC play, while BYU improved to 16-8 and 7-4 in conference action.

Aztec Jamey Cox (Waterloo, Iowa), who had just five points at Utah, scored a team-high 18 points. Freshman Ashlee Dunlap (Los Angeles, Calif.) contributed 13 points and seven rebounds, while sophomore Heather Wolf (Stayton, Ore.) matched a career-high with nine points.

The game started the same way it did versus Utah, with the Aztecs scoring the first points on a three-pointer, this time by Cox. The San Diego State lead was short-lived, however, as the Cougars went on a 13-1 run, before Aztec senior Ashonda Williams (Crockett, Calif.) hit a three from the top of the key to make the score 13-7.

BYU jumped out to as big as a 14 point lead at 25-11 after All-American Erin Thorn's fallaway jumper off the inbound pass. The Aztecs put together back-to-back baskets on a lay-up from Tynisha King (Moreno Valley, Calif.) and a jumper by Dunlap to get back to within 10 points at 25-15.

SDSU got the lead to under double-figures on the second of two free throws by Wolf at 19-28, but ended up trailing at the half by 18 points, 20-38.

Cox scored the team's first eight points, including six on two, three-pointers, to open the second half. BYU matched Cox's effort, however, never trailing by less than 15 points at 38-23 and 40-25.

The Cougars continued their offensive output by going up by as many as 33 points with the help of six three-pointers. BYU went on to run away with the game, eventually winning 87-56.

The Cougars, who shot 50.8 percent from the field, were led by Thorn's 22 points and seven assists, while teammate Danielle Cheesman also had 15 points in the win.

The Aztecs head back to San Diego for their final homestand of the season, beginning Thursday evening against last place Air Force at 7 p.m. in Cox Arena. SDSU will then play host to New Mexico Saturday for senior night, beginning at 5 p.m.
