SEATTLE - A day after suffering a one-point loss, the 33rd-ranked San Diego State men's tennis team came back today by winning the last four singles matches to earn a 4-3 win over Clemson at the University of Washington's Great Northwest Shootout in Seattle. The Aztecs lost a narrow 4-3 decision to Tulane in day one of the event yesterday, but came back to earn a hard-fought win today over the 37th-ranked ACC school.
The nation's sixth-ranked doubles team of Oliver Maiberger and Ryan Redondo won the number one match for the Aztecs, but Clemson emerged victorious in the other two to claim the doubles point.
The Tigers' top two singles players each lost their first sets to Maiberger and Redondo but rebounded for a pair of three-set victories. However, Felix Hardt pulled out a 6-0, 3-6, 6-3 victory at no. 3 singles for the Aztecs and the rest of the squad's singles players took straight-set wins to even SDSU's season record at 2-2.
The Aztec men return to action Monday at Stanford for a 1:30 match with the Cardinal.
