POWAY, Calif. - Senior catcher Amber Grahlman hit an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning to bring junior first baseman Jacque Vaca home and give San Diego State a 2-1 win over No. 4 Michigan Saturday night at the Sportsplex in Poway. The Aztecs (5-4) had a successful outing at the 13th annual Campbell/Cartier Classic, winning two of their three games today. SDSU currently owns a 3-1 record at the 2003 Campbell/Cartier.

The Aztecs opened the day with a 6-3 loss against Kansas (5-1). SDSU center fielder Janna Kovensky went 2-for-4 with one RBI in the losing effort against the Jayhawks. In the second game of the afternoon, San Diego State picked up a 3-0 win against the Central Florida Golden Knights. Sophomore pitcher Bre DeSanta pitched a complete game, her second of the season, and allowed just three hits. Sophomore Erin Mahoney, freshman Meagan Hartung and Grahlman each had RBIs in the contest.

Michigan scored early in its game with the Aztecs, as Jessica Merchant stole second and later scored on an error to give the Wolverines a 1-0 lead in the first. SDSU tied the game at one a piece in the sixth, as Kovensky came home on a UM error. With Vaca on second and no outs in the ninth, freshman Deanna Richards advanced Vaca to third, bringing up to the plate Grahlman and her game-winning RBI single.

San Diego State plays its final game of the tournament tomorrow when it faces Oregon at 11:30 a.m.
