10th-Ranked California Defeats San Diego State Women's Tennis, 6-1

SAN DIEGO - The 10th-ranked California women's tennis team defeated 28th-ranked San Diego State, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon at the SDSU Courts.

The Golden Bears won all three doubles matches and claimed five of six singles matches en route to the victory.

"We came out and played really well against one of the best team's in the nation today," San Diego State head coach Petter Mattera said. "We feel good about the way we played and battled."

After dropping the doubles point, San Diego State tied the match at one when Patricia Graf recorded a victory when Caroline Tudemand retired. Graf had won the first set and led 3-2 in the second when Tudemand resigned.

The Golden Bears won the next five singles matches, the first four in straight sets, in improving to 2-0 on the season.

San Diego State, 1-1, will be back in action Feb. 15 when the Aztecs travel to UC Irvine.
