SAN DIEGO (AP) - Mark Bigelow hit five 3-pointers and scored 21 points to lead Brigham Young to an 80-69 victory over San Diego State on Monday night.

The Cougars (13-4, 2-0 Mountain West) made a season-high 10 3-pointers, including eight in the first half when they took a 41-31 lead.

Bigelow, who came off a 21-point performance against Nevada-Las Vegas on Thursday, reached his season high for points for the third time, while going 5-of-9 from beyond the arc.

Tony Bland had 26 points to spearhead San Diego State (11-5, 2-1), whose school-record streak of 11 straight victories against unranked teams at the Division I level was ended.

Mike Mackell added 18 points for the Aztecs, while Aerick Sanders had a game-high 11 rebounds but only one point.

The Aztecs moved to 47-41 with 15:16 left on back-to-back 3-pointers by reserve Steve Sir.

But the Cougars again pulled away when Travis Hansen followed a steal with a layup and Kevin Woodberry added a 3-point play. After that, San Diego State came no closer than seven points.

Hansen scored 12 of his 14 points in the second half.

The Cougars hit their first seven attempts from 3-point range, going 10 for 17 for the game.

They struck early, with Bigelow sinking two consecutive 3-pointers and Terry Nashif following with another to stake the Cougars to a 14-7 edge just 5:39 into the game.
