SDSU Men's Golf Sixth After 36 Holes Of Turtle Bay Intercollegiate

KAHUKU, Hawaii - The San Diego State men's golf team is in sixth place following the first two rounds of the Turtle Bay Intercollegiate. The Aztecs shot 297-293 for a 36-hole total of 590, which stands 22 shots behind leader and Mountain West Conference rival UNLV (288-280-560), which is ranked No. 2 in the latest Golfweek and Golfstat rankings.

Senior John Lieber (San Diego, Calif./Grossmont HS) is the Aztecs' top individual following the first two rounds. He shot 72-74 for a two-round total of 146, which is eight shots behind 36-hole leader David Skinns of Tennessee (138), who claims a three-shot lead over three golfers tied for second place at 141.

Freshman Andrew Scott (Henderson, Nev./Green Valley HS) stands in a 20th-place tie at 147, while sophomore Aaron Choi (San Diego, Calif./Torrey Pines HS) is another shot back in 26th place at 148. Senior John Lepak (La Habra Heights, Calif./Los Altos HS), who won co-medalist honors in the Aztecs' last event at Barona, is tied for 35th at 149, and senior Charlie Smith (Valencia, Calif./Hart HS) shares 59th place at 155.

Play resumes tomorrow with a 8:00 HST shotgun start for the third and final round of the Turtle Bay Intercollegiate.
