Nov. 14, 2002

San Diego - Former San Diego State Athletic Department employee Mike Sweet has been named the Director of Operations for the SDSU Aztec baseball program. He will assist the coaching staff with their administrative needs from travel to academics to tracking recruits.

"We're happy to have Mike with us to handle a lot of the day-to-day administrative work for the program," commented Gwynn. "He's been here at San Diego State for a while and he has a good knowledge how of the Athletic Department operates. His presence will help relieve some of the burden from the baseball staff and allow us to dedicate more time to coaching and developing the team."

Sweet, 33, graduated from San Diego State in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science degree in public administration. He worked in the Aztec Football Office following graduation and eventually moved over to the academic side of the Athletic Department working in Student Athlete Support Services as the Recruitment of Student Athlete Affairs Coordinator. In that capacity, he handled incoming athlete admissions and recruiting administration.

A native of Arcadia, Calif., he attended Fallbrook Union High School, Sweet is married (Nicole) with two children: Jasmine (2) and David (1).
