SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The San Diego State men's soccer team lost to 25th-ranked UC Santa Barbara, 3-0, Friday night. The loss drops the Aztecs to 2-6-1 on the season, while the Gauchos remain a perfect 8-0-0.

The Gauchos wasted little time in scoring, as forward Rob Friend scored in the sixth minute of action. UCSB scored again with less than four minutes remaining in the first half, as Drew McAthy knocked in another goal to put the Gauchos up 2-0. Neil Jones tacked on the final goal for UC Santa Barbara nearly 20 minutes into the second half, clinching the 3-0 victory.

The Aztecs, who have dealt with numerous injuries to key players such as seniors Travis Baker, Ryan Cook and freshman Nate Slesnick, managed to take only eight shots to UCSB's 23. Eric Wohl, Pat Strait and Blake Perry each notched two shots, while Paul Szefler and Slesnick were credited with one shot each. Aztec goalkeeper Brian Barnes posted five saves.

Up next for SDSU is a home match against Cal State Fullerton on Sunday. The match begins at 2 p.m. on the Sports Deck.
