SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's soccer team defeated the University of San Francisco, 3-0, Thursday afternoon at the SDSU Sports Deck. Three different Aztecs knocked in goals en route to the shut out, the Aztecs' fourth of the season. The victory gives SDSU an 11-6-0 record, while its Mountain West Conference record remains 2-3-0.

Senior Shawni Flint scored first for the Aztecs, finding the back of the net at 13:58 in the first half with assistance from Nicole Findlay and Lisette Martinez. Less than one minute later, Findlay fed Kim Castellanos the ball off a cornerkick for Castellanos' seventh goal of the season. Sophomore Courtney Burns rounded out the Aztecs' scoring by firing a shot that hit the netting with just over five minutes remaining in the first half. The goal was Burns' first of her Aztec career, and Flint was credited with the assist.

The second half was a battle for possession of the ball. Neither team scored, although USF took seven shots, three on goal. Aztec goalkeeper Sophia Perez posted a total of three saves in the match, while Don keeper Stephanie Beall registered four.

"The win is a definite positive as we prepare for Saturday's game against UNLV," said SDSU assistant coach Angela Morrison. "In terms of our attack, we were a lot more willing to shoot and try to create opportunities offensively. We played without three or four of our starters today, which confirms our depth."

The Aztecs play in their final regular-season match of the 2002 campaign on Saturday when they face MWC rival UNLV (10-6-1, 2-3-0) at 1 p.m. on the SDSU Sports Deck.
