SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's crew team opened the fall season in winning fashion, as the two varsity eight teams captured the No. 1 and 2 spots at the Head of the Estuary Regatta held in Oakland on Sunday. The San Diego State "A" team finished the course in 19:38.66, while the "B" team clocked in at 19:46.46.
On Saturday, the teams raced in the Head of the American in Sacramento. The Aztecs competed against such schools as Stanford, Cal, UC Davis and UCLA. SDSU placed in the middle of the pack, with the "A" and "B" teams coming in at 11th and 12th place, respectively, out of 21 teams. The Stanford "A" team captured first place, while Cal's "A" and "B" teams grabbed second and third place.
The Aztecs return to action on Sunday, Nov. 3, at the Newport Fall Rowing Festival at Newport Harbor.
