SAN DIEGO - San Diego State senior Oliver Maiberger claimed his second consecutive singles title with a three-set victory in the championship match at Omni Hotel Western Regional Championship in Las Vegas.
The tournament's top-seed, Maiberger lost the first set before rallying for a 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory over New Mexico's seventh-seeded Bart Scott. With the victory, Maiberger qualifies for the 2002 Omni Hotels National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships to be played Nov. 7-10 in Dallas.
