Swimmers Fall To Utah, 173-113

San Diego - In its first home action of the season, San Diego State fell to the University of Utah, 173-113, in a dual meet held at the Ray and Joan Kroc Community Center in San Diego on Saturday. The loss dropped the Aztecs to 0-2 on the year as they suffered their second consecutive loss in the Mountain West Conference. It was Utah's opening meet of the season.

Despite the final score, San Diego State had several individuals excel on the day. Freshman Emily Schmied captured the 100 butterfly with a time of 59.27 and also place second in the 100 backstroke at 1:00.35. She also swam the third leg of the 400 medley relay that finished second.

SDSU's Megan Storey demonstrated her versatility, swimming both distance freestyle events as well as 200 butterfly. For the second week in a row, the junior from Edmonds, Wash. Took second in both the 500 (5:09.08) and 1000 (10:26.36) free races. She also added a third place in the 200 fly (2:12.07).

Veteran Erin Kilpatrick also had a good day, finishing second in the 200 butterfly (2:11.67) and third in the 100 fly. She also swam the 400 individual medley and was a member of a 400-yard medley relay team.

Up next for San Diego State is a dual meet with cross-town rival University of San Diego on Saturday, Nov. 2, at noon at the Toreros' pool.
