SAN DIEGO - The 2002-03 women's crew team will travel north this weekend for a pair of head races to open the fall season. Head races are 5,000-6,000 meter races in which the teams have a staggered start and navigate around bends and under bridges. The team who finishes the course in the shortest amount of time wins.

That event takes place at the Oakland Estuary, adjacent to Jack London Square. The race begins at 9 a.m.
Teams competing against SDSU include Cal, Stanford, UC Davis, UC Santa Barbara, UC Irvine, Sacramento State Long Beach State, St. Mary's and UCLA.
