This Week in Aztec Soccer * Mountain West Conference action gets into full swing this week, as the women host two MWC opponents, Wyoming on Friday and Air Force on Sunday. * The Aztecs will play just one more non-conference team this season when they host San Francisco for a Halloween match.

Goooooooooooal! * It was a game of season-firsts for the San Diego State women's soccer team, as four different Aztecs, Sheila Dayog, Jamie Harlor, Becky Prilaman and Boo Tinling, notched their first goals of the 2002 season in SDSU's 5-1 win over Nevada Sunday afternoon. * Dayog's and Harlor's goals were also the first of their Aztec careers.

SDSU in the Mountain West * Since its arrival into the MWC in 1999, the Aztecs own a 13-10-1 (.562) record in league matches, and a 24-25 (.490) mark in non-conference games. * San Diego State was tabbed to finish fourth this year in the Moutain West. It currently sits in that No. 4 spot after one week of MWC play. The Aztecs notched a fifth-place finish in the conference last year.

Gone in 39 Seconds * It may have been just a fluke, but in San Diego State's 5-1 victory over Nevada on Sunday, SDSU scored with 39 seconds remaining in each ofthe two halves. Senior Jamie Harlor knocked in SDSU's third goal at 44:21, while senior Boo Tinling added the Aztecs' final goal at 89:21.

Findlay, A Fabulous Find * Senior Nicole Findlay scored another goal last weekend and also posted an assist, pushing her point total to 11 (4 G, 3 A), the second-best on the team. * The Fairfield, Calif., native scored two of the Aztecs' three goals en route to SDSU's 3-0 shutout against Long Beach State. Her first goal of the season came in the Aztecs' victory over Weber State. * Findlay suffered a season-ending injury in the third match of the 2001 season, but made the most of her short campaign, posting three goals and taking seven shots in the games against Montana and Eastern Washington.

Injury Update * Junior Kim Castellanos returned to action last weekend after missing two games (Long Beach State and Pepperdine) due to injury. Although she did not start either game, Castellanos took three shots against New Mexico and one shot in SDSU's match with the Wolf Pack. * Senior Hannah Garl, who suffered an ankle injury in the game against North Carolina State, continues her rehabilitation, as does Noelle Jouglet and Erica Lopez.

Aztec Triva * San Diego State's 18 shots against Nevada were a season-high...The Aztecs' losses to Pepperdine and New Mexico were the first back-to-back losses of the season...Friday's loss to New Mexico was the first time since the Aztecs joined a conference in 1995 that the team lost its league opener...The 2002 squad is tied for the second-best start in the program's 14-year history, as the 1996 as well as the 1999 NCAA tournament-bound teams also owned 8-4 records after the first 12 games...The 1998 edition, who also advanced to the NCAA tournament, had the best start, boasting an 11-1 record in its first 12 games... Twelve different Aztecs have scored goals this season...13 Aztecs have been credited with at least one assist...The SDSU bench has combined for a total of seven goals, eight assists and 35 shots.

Season Firsts * In addition to Sunday's onslaught of season-firsts (see Goooooooooooal!), here are some other firsts for the Aztecs: * Junior Annette Shinn got the starting nod for the first time this season against Nevada. * Sophomore Courtney Burns and freshman Ashley Cooper got their first starts in the match against Pepperdine. Cooper recorded one shot. * Sophomore Brianna Weymouth posted her first assist as an Aztec in SDSU's win over Long Beach State. The Phoenix, Ariz., native has been seeing more playing time as of late, making appearances in SDSU's last three games. * Freshman Erica Lopez, who has already proven herself to be a play-maker by posting three assists so far this season, recorded her first collegiate goal in the Aztecs' victory over UC Santa Barbara. * Noelle Jouglet, a sophomore from Helix High School, posted her first goal of the season, as well as her first as an Aztec, against Montana. Senior Michele Wagner also notched her first assist of the year against the Griz. * Three Aztecs earned career-firsts in SDSU's match with North Carolina State. Junior Sheila Dayog earned her first point as a Division I athlete with an assist to Kim Castellanos. Freshman Amanda Swiader knocked in the first goal of her collegiate career off an assist from senior Boo Tinling, her first as an Aztec.

Conference/NCAA Notables * SDSU leads the Mountain West in assists (25), assists per game (2.08), and is third in total points (75). * Junior Kim Castellanos is tied for 26th place in the NCAA rankings for points per game (2.00).

Scouting Wyoming * The Aztecs have never lost to Wyoming, as they hold a 2-0-1 advantage over the Cowgirls. * SDSU tied with Wyoming, 1-1, in last year's match in Laramie. * Wyoming owns a 4-8-1 overall record, having most recently dropped two in a row against conference opponents Utah and BYU. * The Cowgirls are led by freshman forward Mercy Adetoye and sophomore forward Mari Gomes, who each have three goals.

Tracking Air Force * The Falcons have posted an overall record of 5-9-0 thus far in the 2002 season. Like the Cowgirls, Air Force lost their first two league games to BYU and Utah. * Cookie Day and Mary Cholko lead Air Force with five goals a piece. * San Diego State's only loss against Air Force came last year in Colorado Springs. The all-time series record stands at 4-1-0. * The Falcons will play UNLV before coming to San Diego on Sunday.
