SDSU Announces 2003 Baseball Schedule

San Diego - The San Diego State Aztec baseball team, under first-year head coach Tony Gwynn, will open its 2003 season with a three-game series at Arizona State beginning Friday, Jan. 24. The Sun Devils will be the first of eight Aztec opponents who advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season.

SDSU opens the home portion of its schedule with a pair of contests against NCAA tourney participant South Alabama on Feb. 11 and 12 at Tony Gwynn Stadium.

Other highlights of the home slate include games with Long Beach State, UC Irvine and Santa Clara as well as cross-town rival University of San Diego, plus 15 Mountain West Conference contests. One game will be added in the near future to complete the 25-game home schedule. This season, Aztec weekday home contests will start at 6:00 p.m. with Saturday and Sunday games scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

The Aztecs' road ledger includes a first-ever road trip to south Florida for a three-game series against perennial national power Miami in late February. SDSU will also participate in the Clash of the Conferences tournament in Lancaster, Calif., with games against Washington, Oregon State and Cal State Northridge

Season tickets for the Aztecs' 25 home games will go on sale Dec. 1 and may be purchased at the SDSU Ticket Office at Qualcomm Stadium Window G or by calling 619-283-7378. Season tickets cost $100 for adults and $75 for students/youth, seniors, military and SDSU faculty. Single-game tickets for those categories will cost $7 and $5 respectively.
