Volleyball Defeats San Francisco In Three Games

HONOLULU - San Diego State defeated San Francisco 3-0 (30-20, 30-25, 30-16) to capture the third-place match at the Aston Imua Wahine Challenge in Honolulu. The win ended a three-match losing steak for the Aztecs and evened their record at 3-3. USF fell to 2-5 on the season.

Rochelle Currier led the SDSU attack with 16 kills and 11 digs while teammate Aspen McPartland recorded her third double double of the year with 10 kills and 13 digs.

Sophomore Zlatina Anguelova turned in another solid performance with eight kills and 11 digs, and she was the lone Aztec to be named to the all-tournament team.

San Francisco's Brittanie Buddinger was the Dons' top offensive player with 11 kills and 10 digs.

The Aztecs finished the match with a .379 team hitting percentage, their best of the young season as they recorded 55 kills to USF's 36. SDSU took just over an hour to win the three games.

Up next for SDSU is a match with UC Irvine on Tuesaday (Sept. 10) at 6:00 p.m. in Peterson Gym.
