McPartland Named MWC Volleyball Player Of The Week

Colorado Springs, CO. - For the second straight week, San Diego State middle blocker Aspen McPartland has been named Mountain West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, marking her second overall award.

A 6-1 junior from La Mesa, Calif. (Grossmont HS), McPartland led the Aztecs to a 2-1 record last week, including a five-game victory over No. 16 Utah. She totaled double-doubles in two of three matches last week, bringing her career double-double total to 19.

Against Loyola Marymount, McPartland totaled 12 kills, 13 digs and five blocks in a five-game loss. In the conference opener vs. BYU, she tallied eight kills, nine digs and four blocks, while hitting .273 in a three-game victory.

In a five-game win over Utah, the Aztecs' third straight over the Utes in San Diego, McPartland hit .577 with 17 kills, 12 digs and six blocks. She recorded just four attack errors in 48 attempts in the two conference matches. The sweep over BYU and Utah was the first for the Aztecs since joining the MWC.

For the week, McPartland totaled 37 kills (2.85 kpg), 34 digs (2.62 dpg) and 15 blocks (1.15 bpg), while hitting .338 (37-11-77).

The Aztecs (11-7 overall, 2-0 MWC) make their first conference road swing of the season this week with matchs at Colorado State (Friday, Oct. 4) and Wyoming (Saturday. Oct. 5).
