McPartland Named MWC Player Of The Week

San Diego - San Diego State middle blocker Aspen McPartland was named Mountain West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, marking her first overall award.

A 6-1 junior from La Mesa, Calif. (Grossmont HS), McPartland was named Most Valuable Player at the Black & Gold Challenge after leading the Aztecs to a 3-0 record. She totaled double-doubles in two of three matches last week, bringing her career double-double total to 17. Against Winthrop, McPartland hit .417 with 14 kills, 12 digs and seven blocks. She tallied eight kills, 13 digs and five blocks vs. Alabama-Birmingham and finished the tournament with a career-high 19 kills, 15 digs and a .562 hitting percentage vs. the host Demon Deacons.

For the weekend, McPartland totaled 41 kills (3.73 kpg), 40 digs (3.64 dpg) and 15 blocks (1.36 bpg), while hitting .465 (41-8-71).

San Diego State reutrns to home action on Wednesday (Sept. 25) when it takes on Loyola Marymount at 6:00 p.m. in Peterson Gym.
