MOSCOW, Idaho (AP) - Brian Lindgren threw for 382 yards and six touchdowns as Idaho beat San Diego State 48-38 on Saturday.
Lindgren completed 29 of 46 passes in the win, while San Diego State's Adam Hall went 29-of-49 for 506 yards and five TDs.
The Vandals (1-3) tightened defensively in the fourth quarter, holding San Diego State scoreless over the final 12:48.
Trailing 48-38, the Aztecs (0-4) had first-and-goal at Idaho's 9-yard line. After Hall threw three incompletions, first-year San Diego State coach Tom Craft went for it on fourth down instead of trying a short field goal.
Hall threw incomplete, and the Vandals took over.
San Diego State's J.R. Tolver, the nation's leading receiver, had 14 catches for 184 yards and three touchdowns. Teammate Kassim Osgood caught six passes for 178 yards.
Josh Jelmberg had five receptions for 97 yards while Orlando Winston caught five passes for 78 yards to lead Idaho. Malfred Shaw and Blair Lewis combined for 149 yards on 34 carries.
The Vandals held San Diego State to 79 yards rushing.
