Box Score

LOS ANGELES - San Diego State's women's soccer team fell, 1-0, in overtime to the Loyola Marymount Lions Monday afternoon. The loss evens the Aztecs' record to 1-1 on the young season, while LMU remains a perfect 2-0.

The lone goal of the match was scored by freshman Jessica Hanson in the 94th minute of the game. Her game-winning-goal was the first of her collegiate career. Aztec keeper Sophia Perez played for the first 33 minutes of the contest before being replaced by Stephanie Pearson. The two combined for a total of four saves during the game.

"In the first half, we weren't in the game. We were lucky to start the second half at 0-0," said head coach Chuck Clegg. "We played better in the second half and had two chances to score, but did not put the game away. This was the first road game, which is always difficult. We are learning how this team adjusts to traveling."

The Aztecs were held to just six shots, four of which kept Lion goalkeeper Elizabeth Skhal busy at the net as senior Arinda Alvarez took two shots on goal and senior Nicole Findlay and sophomore Noelle Jouglet each posted one shot on goal. However, LMU dominated offensively, as the Lions posted a total of 17 shots.

San Diego State returns home for the San Diego State Tournament this week. The Aztecs will face Cal State Northridge (1-1) on Wednesday, Sept. 4, followed by a match with North Carolina State (1-1) on Friday, Sept. 6.
