LAS VEGAS - In the 95-degree heat of the Las Vegas desert, San Diego State's women's soccer team shut out Weber State, 2-0, in the first game of the UNLV Tournament Friday. The win gives the Aztecs their first win on the road and improves SDSU's record to 4-1.

As the clock ran down in the first half, Aztec senior Nicole Findlay knocked in a goal 38 minutes into the match. Junior Sheila Dayog was credited with the assist, her second of the season. Early in the second half, junior Kim Castellanos scored the Aztecs' second goal off an assist from freshman Amanda Swiader, the first of her collegiate career.

SDSU kept Wildcat goalkeeper Melanie Stratford busy at the net, as Stratford had six saves during the match and had to do battle with the Aztecs' eight shots on goal. San Diego State tallied seven fouls to WSU's 11. The two teams were even in cornerkicks, with each team earning four.

The Aztecs will face Montana on Sunday in their final game of the tournament. Montana currently owns a 1-3 record, but will compete later Friday night against the UNLV Rebels (3-0-1) before its match with the Aztecs, which is slated for 2 p.m. start.
