SAN DIEGO - A full day of football and fun is scheduled for Aug. 17th when the San Diego State football squad conducts its annual Aztec Family Day, presented by the San Diego Union-Tribune. The event will take place at Tony Gwynn Stadium.
On tap for Saturday morning will be a flea market of old Aztec gear and one of the first opportunities to buy Aztec merchandise featuring the new athletic logos. At 9 a.m. gates open for the flea market as well as for the interactive fun zone, staffed by current Aztec athletes and coaches.
At 9:30 a.m., Tom Craft's football squad will take to the field for its final scrimmage prior to the season opener on Aug. 29th at Fresno State.
Papa John's and Coca Cola will provide $1 pizza and soda. Fans are also asked to donate a stuffed animal for patients at Children's Hospital.
"This is always a big event for our fans," said San Diego State's assistant athletic director for marketing, Steve Schnall. "This year is even more intriguing with a new coaching staff and the new logos in place."
Fans are encouraged to park in Parking Structure 5, located at the intersection of 55th Street and Montezuma. Similar to volleyball and baseball contests, guests will need to purchase a parking pass upon entrance to the structure.
