SDSU Rowers Honored

SAN DIEGO - Three members of the San Diego State rowing program were honored Tuesday by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association, with sophomore Caroline Fiegen and junior Alicia Stuebner being named to the association's West Region second team and sophomore Jamie Williams being recognized as a CRCA West Region national-scholar athlete.

Williams maintains a 3.70 grade-point average as a business major. The national-scholar athlete award is designed to recognize the outstanding academic accomplishments of female rowers and coxswains. Criteria for the award includes meeting eligibility rules as defined by the athletes institution, participating in their second, third or fourth year of eligibility, participating in at least 75 percent of the season's races in the varsity boat and having a 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA through the fall semester of the current season.

The nomination criteria for the all-region list includes meeting eligibility rules as defined by the athletes institution and participating in at least 75 percent of the season's races in the varsity boat.

The All-America first and second teams will be selected by the regional chairpersons from the all-region list. All-America honors will be announced at a date to be determined.
