SDSU's Warman Slips To 37th At NCAA Men's Golf Championship

May 31, 2002

COLUMBUS, Ohio - For the second straight day, San Diego State's Mark Warman struggled on the front nine, including carding his second triple bogey in the last 36 holes. However, unlike Thursday's second round, there was no magic recovery by Warman on Friday as the sophomore finished the third round at 5-over-par 76 and tumbled from 12th to 37th in the individual standings.

Graeme McDowell of Alabama-Birmingham shot his second successive 4-under 67 to take the third-round lead at 8-under 205.

Warman, who drew a morning tee time, opened on the No. 10 hole and once again cruised through the back nine, shooting even par. However, after making the turn it all went south for the all-Mountain West performer as he bogeyed the par-4 No. 1 hole and tripled the par five No. 4.

The sophomore closed out his round with a bogey on No. 9 for the 76 and a three-day total of 2-over 215.

The fourth and final round of the 2002 NCAA Men's Golf Championships tees off from The Ohio State University Scarlet Course (par 71; 7,222 yards) Saturday at 7 a.m. (EDT). Warman will take to the links at approximately 8:48 a.m. (EDT) and tees off from the No. 10 hole.
