SAN DIEGO - Three San Diego State softball players were named to the 2002 Louisville Slugger West Region Softball Team. Seniors Sarah Hershman and Tiffany Goudy, along with freshman Bre DeSanta were named to the second team.
All three athletes were named to the all-Mountain West Conference team, while DeSanta earned Mountain West Conference Pitcher of the Year and Freshman of the Year for her efforts in the circle.
Goudy finished the season with a team-leading .363 batting average and led the Mountain West Conference with 70 hits. Hershman finished the season with a .309 batting average and finished her career with a ranking in every career category for the Aztecs. Hershman was named to last year's all-region team. DeSanta finished the season with a 1.36 ERA and lead the Mountain West Conference in ERA, strikeouts (155) and opponent batting average (.205), while finishing fourth nationally with six saves.
