SDSU's DeSanta Named Mountain West Pitcher Of The Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State freshman pitcher Bre DeSanta was named Mountain West Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced today. The honor is her fifth of the season.

DeSanta, a Scottsdale, Ariz., native, went 4-0 (four complete games and two shutouts) in four appearances on the week for SDSU. In 28.0 innings on the mound, she struck out 10, while walking three and giving up four runs (three earned). Her strongest outing of the week came in game two against Colorado State, where she gave up only two hits and walked one in the Aztecs 1-0 victory. In SDSU's first game against New Mexico, DeSanta struck out three, while giving up four hits on the way to her third complete game victory of the week. She concluded the week with a five-hit, four strikeout performance in the Aztecs 2-0 win over the Lobos. DeSanta is 16-8 on the season (8-0 in MWC play), with a 1.08 ERA. Her 42 appearances and 134 strikeouts are currently third on the Aztecs season-high list. DeSanta also is currently tied for fifth place in the nation in saves, with six.

The Aztecs will be home for the final time this season when they host UNLV, Saturday at 1 p.m. Five seniors will be honored in between games one and two.
