April 18, 2002

AZUSA, Calif. - San Diego State junior Leslie Miller set three personal-best marks on Thursday in the first day of competition at the Mt. SAC Heptathlon held on the Azusa Pacific campus. After four events, Miller sits in seventh place with 3,202 points.

Miller's PR marks came in the 100-meter hurdles, where she raced to a time of 14.12, the high jump (5-3.25) and the 200 meters (25.23). She also threw the shot a distance of 37-8.75. The time in the 100 hurdles is the fastest by an Aztec this season.

"Leslie is putting on a solid performance," said SDSU head coach Rahn Sheffield. "She is on pace to qualify for nationals."

The NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the heptathlon is 5,500 points. Miller will get her chance to try to meet that total when competition continues tomorrow at 8 a.m.
