SDSU's DeSanta Named Mountain West Softball Pitcher of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State freshman righthander Bre DeSanta was named Mountain West Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week. The honor is her fourth of the season and the seventh for the San Diego State softball team.

DeSanta appeared in three games for the Aztecs last week, bringing home a 2-0 record (both complete games) and a save. In 16.0 innings of work, she gave up 19 hits, five runs (three earned) and struck out 10 while walking none. In game two against New Mexico, she gave up 10 hits and two earned runs, helping the Aztecs to a 10-4 win. DeSanta's best performance of the week came in San Diego State's, 3-1, win over Colorado State in game one of its doubleheader. The Scottsdale, Ariz. product scattered five hits, struck out six and gave up a run in the SDSU victory. She capped the week pitching two innings of relief in game two against the Rams, to preserve the Aztecs 4-1 win. DeSanta currently leads the MWC in ERA (1.11), opposing batting average (.210), wins (12), saves (6-4th in the nation), appearances (37), games finished (20) and games finished in relief (20). This is her fourth pitcher of the week award this season.
