SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State rowing team won its seventh-straight city championship on Saturday on Mission Bay, sweeping the competition in all five events. The event serves as championship between in-city rivals SDSU, USD and UCSD.
The Aztecs' varsity eight boat took first after a slow start. The team made a power move at the halfway point of the race to win in open water with a time of 7:07.07. USD clocked in at 7:13.20.
SDSU's A and B boats placed 1-2 in the novice four competition with times of 8:15.84 and 8:29.12, respectively.
Other Aztec wins came in the novice four (8:15.84), novice eight (7:21.31) and varsity four (7:38.94).
SDSU returns to the water April 27 went it competes at the Norman P. Miller Cup, hosted by UCLA.
