Last Week
The Aztecs started the week in a slump with a sweep by No. 7 Cal State Fullerton on Thursday. The Titans won with a 9-0 win in five innings in the first game and took game two in the bottom of the seventh with a 2-1 victory. From there, the Aztecs traveled to Las Vegas and cashed in on UNLV with a doubleheader sweep that included a 3-0 and 1-0 shutout over the Rebels.
*Senior Tiffany Goudy led the Aztecs at the plate going 5-for-10 (.500), including a double and a triple.
* Janna Kovensky and Goudy teamed up several times during the weekend with Goudy sending Kovensky home three times.
*The Aztecs outhit UNLV 15-9. That marks the third Mountain West opponent that the team has outhit.
* Freshman Bre DeSanta finished the weekend with a 0.86 ERA, only giving up two runs to No. 7 Cal State Fullerton. Her performance included one win and one save that kept UNLV scoreless in both games. She also struckout a career-high eight batters against the Titans.
* Seven players combined for the 11 hits in the first win against UNLV.
Break Out The Broom
SDSU and doubleheaders didn't seem to be a good combination this season. With two doubleheaders behind them, the Aztecs couldn't seem to win game two. That was until they beat Brigham Young 5-4 and 2-0. State went on to sweep UNLV last weekend. Four teams fell victim to the broom last year, including conference opponents Colorado State and Utah.
About New Mexico
* New Mexico took the first games in both series with Utah and BYU but couldn't keep things going and lost the second games 0-3 and 0-6, respectively.
* Kelly Glass leads the Lobos overall with a .370 and .471 in conference at the dish. * The Lobos staff holds on to a 5.59 ERA and is led by Hayley Punter who has started 13 games and given up 117 hits in 84.2 innings of work.
* San Diego State and New Mexico met last year in the Mountain West Tournament when SDSU scored in the top of the seventh to take the win 4-3.
About Colorado State
* The Rams started the weekend with a huge sweep over the Cougars of BYU that included a 16-inning performance. CSU couldn't keep the momentum going and fell victim to a Utah sweep the next day.
* Colorado State is led at the dish by first baseman Amanda Kocis with a .320 average that includes five doubles on 32 hits.
* Ricki Walker has ripped four home runs this season, including one against BYU and one against Utah last weekend.
* The pitching staff is led by freshman Melanie Mahoney. She was named Mountan West Pitcher of the Week for her perfomance against both Utah teams. Mahoney leads the staff with a 1.74 ERA that includes 29 earned runs in 116.2 innings of work.
* Both the Aztecs and the Rams swept on thier respective fields. The last game between the Rams and the Aztecs was a 4-1 victory by San Diego State on May 4, 2001 at SDSU Field. Janna Kovensky went 2-for-2 with a triple in that game.
Now Entering The Mountain West
The Aztecs are 5-1 and seem to be on a bit of a roll through the league. The Mountain West has been very good to the Aztecs.

* Senior Sarah Hershman has moved into third place above Erryn Gutjahr with 43. * Sophomore Janna Kovensky has added 16 to her freshman total of nine. With an average of one base per game, Kovensky will find her way onto the career list by the end of the season.
* Kellie Nordhagen is now tied for fifth on the Aztecs' career stolen-bases list. Her name appears on all but three top-five lists.
Leading Off Senior outfielder Kellie Nordhagen is right at home leading off in the order, she has a .306 (45-147) clip from the top spot. She is hitting .400 in conference play.
