April 9, 2002

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State senior outfielder Tiffany Goudy has been named Mountain West Conference Softball Player of the Week, the league office announced today.

Goudy, a Paso Robles, Calif. product, went 5-for-10 (.500) from the plate, with a triple, a double, three RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base, leading the Aztecs to two wins on the week. She hit safely in three of four games and was responsible for all of the SDSU's runs on the week. Her best performance was a 3-for-4 outing in a 3-0 Aztec victory over conference foe UNLV in game one of a doubleheader. Against the Rebels, Goudy smashed a double, driving in two RBI and scoring a run of her own. In the Aztecs 1-0 win over UNLV in the second game, she went 1-for-2 from the plate with an RBI triple. Goudy is batting .362 on the season (including an MWC-best .625 in league play), with 28 RBI and is tied for the league lead in hits, with 51 on the season. This is her first career player of the week award.

This is the sixth award for the Aztecs from the Mountain West and the first for Goudy in the 2002 season. San Diego State (28-18-1, 5-1 MWC) will return to action when they play New Mexico on Friday at 1 p.m. and Colorado State at noon on Sunday.
