San Diego State Takes Two From UNLV

LAS VEGAS - The San Diego State softball team came to Las Vegas with one mission-- take down UNLV-- and they did that with 3-0 and 1-0 shutouts against the Rebels. The wins brings the Aztecs' record to 28-18-1 and 5-1 in the Mountain West.

The Aztecs got things started in the first game when senior Tiffany Goudy singled to center field earning the RBI while Janna Kovensky ran home. Goudy again came to the plate in the top of the seventh and ripped a double to center field sending Kovensky home for the second time. Sarah Hershman doubled to left field sending Goudy home and rounding out the game for SDSU.

Jeni Tornquist earned the win giving up five hits for a 6-3 record. Bre DeSanta registered her fifth save of the season pitching the final three innings with two hits and striking out four batters.

DeSanta pitched game two giving up two hits and no runs in seven innings for the 1-0 win over the Rebels.

The final run was scored int he top frame of the game when the duo of Goudy and Kovensky teamed up again with a triple by Goudy that sent Kovensky in for the score.

The Aztecs will travel to New Mexico on April 12 and then to Colorado State on April 14. Both matchups are doubleheaders and are scheduled to beginat 1 p.m. and noon, respectively.
