SAN DIEGO - Revenge is sweet, just ask the Aztecs after their sweep over Brigham Young today at SDSU Field. San Diego State beat the Cougars 5-4 in game one and 2-0 in game two.

The Aztecs were first on the board in the when Kellie Nordhagen reached home on a throwing error by right fielder Brooke Cadiente. Tiffany Goudy singled to left center sending Joann Figueroa home for the second run.

Sophomore Kelcy Murphy was responsible for the Aztec scoring run in the third when she ripped a double to right field sending Sarah Hershman and Goudy home. Brigham Young pitcher Niki Andersen intentionally walked Murphy after her last at-bat and loaded the bases with one out and then walked catcher Amber Grahlman sending Goudy in for the score.

The Aztecs outhit the Cougars 9-4 including doubles by Hershman and Murphy.

Jessi Green recorded the win for the Aztecs giving up two runs on three hits in 5.2 innings of work. Freshman Bre DeSanta earned her fourth save of the season with one hit in 1.1 innings in the circle.

For the first time this season, San Diego State took the second game of a doubleheader with a 2-0 shutout of the Cougars.

The two runs for the Aztecs were both scored in the fourth. Hershman got things started with a single sending Goudy in, followed by Figueroa who snuck in when the Cougars were trying to contain Hershman at second.

DeSanta earned the win, bringing her record to 9-7.

The sweep over BYU is the first for San Diego State since the 2000 season. The wins bring the Aztec record to 26-16-1 and 3-1 in the Mountain West Conference.

State will make the short trip north to face No. 7 Cal State Fullerton on Thursday and then to Las Vegas for a doubleheader against UNLV on Saturday.
