LEBANON, Ore. - The San Diego State women's golf team shot 312 during the morning session and was a stroke better during the afternoon, carding a 311 to complete the opening day of play at the Oregon Duck Invitational in 11th place with a two-round score of 623.
Washington, which had four players finish Thursday's action among the top-5 individuals, was the only team to break 600 and sits atop the team leaderboard with a combined score of 586. The 16th-ranked Huskies leads the tournament's second-place squad, 40th-ranked Idaho by 16 strokes as the Vandals finished up at 602. San Francisco, which boasts the individual leader in Susannah Laing, rounded out the top three with a score of 605.
Sophomores Sandy Kim and Shayna Miyajima paced San Diego State. Kim stands tied for 15th after shooting 7-over 151. Miyajima, tied for 26th, finished up at 9-over 153.
Senior Heather Rollo was the only other Aztec to rank in the top 50 through 36 holes and heads into Friday's final round tied for 37th at 12-over 156. Senior Asa Jankler and junior Claire Riley are tied for 63rd at 19-over 163.
The third and final round of the Oregon Duck Invitational tees off Friday with an 8 a.m. shotgun start from the Mallard Creek Golf Course.
