SAN DIEGO (AP) - Al Faux banked in a short driving jumper with 2.6 seconds left to lift San Diego State to a 49-47 win over Air Force on Saturday.

Randy Holcomb scored 12 points to lead the Aztecs (18-11, 7-7 Mountain West), who held their breath as Marc Holum's desperation half-court attempt for Air Force hit the back rim at the buzzer.

Tony Bland added 11 points for San Diego State, which will be the fifth seed in the Mountain West Conference tournament next week in Las Vegas.

Tim Keller and Lamoni Yazzie added 10 points apiece for Air Force (9-18, 3-11), which will be the 8-seed in the tourney.

The Atzecs led after a sloppy first half 24-19, but Air Force fought back in the second to take a 39-38 lead on a three-point play by Keller, who drove the lane for a layup and picked up a foul with 7:58 left.

The game stayed tight down the stretch, with the Falcons up 44-41 with 2:44 to play. The Aztecs scored six straight, capped on a Holcomb layup with 46 seconds left give San Diego State a 47-44 lead.

Yazzie hit a 3-pointer with 25.6 remaining to tie the game for the Falcons, who shot 44 percent from the field compared to 39 percent for the Aztecs. The Aztecs then ran down the clock for Yazzie's game-winner.

San Diego State held a 31-22 rebounding advantage.
