SDSU Women's Tennis Continues Home Stand With Loss

SAN DIEGO - The 48th-ranked San Diego State women's tennis team lost 7-0 on Wednesday to 15th-ranked Southern California at SDSU Courts. The loss drops the Aztecs to 5-6 on the season while the Trojans move to 10-4.

SDSU opened the day with a 2-1 loss of the doubles point. The Aztecs lone win in doubles came via the No. 3 pair of Indra Erichsen and Julie Chidley who defeated USC's Bernadette Bayani and Melissa Esmero, 8-6.

The Trojans went on to sweep play in singles with straight set wins at No. 1, 3, 5 and 6. The Aztecs made things interesting at No. 2 and No. 4. At the two spot, SDSU's Lindsey Hedberg took the first set 6-0 over USC's Maureen Diaz only to lose the next two 6-4, 6-3. At No. 4 play, SDSU's Katalina Romero also won the first set 6-0 before losing the next two, 6-0, 7-6, to Tiffany Brymer.

Wednesday's match was the second of four straight at home for the Aztecs. The team next faces Notre Dame on Friday at 2 p.m. at SDSU Courts and closes the homestand on March 19 (Tues.) against Kansas State.
