The Records: San Diego State is 18-11 and 7-7 in conference play after the Aztecs won for the fifth time in six games with a 49-47 decision over Air Force on Saturday at Cox Arena. Brigham Young ended the regular season with a 17-10 record, 7-7 in league play after a 79-75 loss at Colorado State on Saturday.

SDSU Coach Steve Fisher: Fisher (Illinois State '67) is in his third season at San Diego State with a record of 37-48. Now in his 11th full season he has amassed a 221-130 mark. Fisher led Michigan to the 1989 national championship and made three trips to the national championship game in his eight full seasons in Ann Arbor. The 1991-92 national coach of the year led the Aztecs to a 14-14 mark last year.

BYU Coach Steve Cleveland: Cleveland (UC Irvine '76) is in his fifth season both at Brigham Young and overall. He has guided the Cougars to an 84-67 mark, including the 2001 Mountain West Conference Championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

The Series: Brigham Young leads the series 35-14 after the teams split the season series this year. Brigham Young won in Provo, 75-64 on Jan. 12 while the Aztecs won in San Diego on Feb. 11 by a 77-73 score. This is the first postseason meeting between the teams.
