The Records: San Diego State is 16-11 and 5-7 in conference play after the Aztecs fell at UNLV 83-76 in overtime on Saturday. New Mexico is 16-10 overall and 6-6 in league action after posting its second consecutive win, a 74-65 decision over Wyoming on Monday.

SDSU Coach Steve Fisher: Fisher (Illinois State '67) is in his third season at San Diego State with a record of 35-48. Now in his 11th full season he has amassed a 219-130 mark. Fisher led Michigan to the 1989 national championship and made three trips to the national championship game in his eight full seasons in Ann Arbor. The 1991-92 national coach of the year led the Aztecs to a 14-14 mark last year.

New Mexico Coach Fran Fraschilla: Fraschilla (Brooklyn College '80) has a 55-37 record in his third season at New Mexico. Fraschilla, who has also coached at Manhattan and St. John's, is in his ninth season overall with a 175-96 overall record.

The Series: San Diego State and New Mexico will meet for the 49th time on Thursday, with the Lobos owning a 30-18 series advantage. The Aztecs won 78-65 earlier this season at The Pit, breaking a 10-game series losing streak to the Lobos and winning in Albuquerque for the first time since Jan. 14, 1984. New Mexico has won four straight meetings in San Diego.
