WACO, Texas - San Diego State, for the first time this season, staged a comeback and beat Stephen F. Austin with two runs in the sixth and the final in the seventh for a 3-1 victory in the second day of the Compass Bank Invitational in Waco,Texas. The win brings the Aztec record to 9-8-1.
Senior Korin Gregory bettered her record to 3-0 facing 23 hitters and giving up one run on two hits in seven innings of work. Gregory set a personal best low-hit complete game, her last was a five hit won over New Mexico on May 2, 1999.
Senior Summer Ehrsam shined with a 1-for-2 perfomance at the plate with one run and one stolen base. Ehrsam also registered a team high 15 putouts. Janna Kovensky was 1-for-3 with one run and one stolen base.
The Aztecs will play the final game of the tournament tomorrow against host Baylor. If the Aztecs win the final game they will win the tournament. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. (CST). Live stats will be available at www.goaztecs.com.
