Feb. 14, 2002

SAN DIEGO - San Diego State's water polo phenom, Holly Hartzell, was awarded the first MPSF Mikasa Player of the Week of the season for her outstanding offensive play during the Aztecs' 4-2 run last week.

In SDSU's six games, the sophomore, two-meter scored 18 goals, averaging three per game. Hartzell's offensive surge put San Diego State in the third-place game of the UCSD No Grip Invitational at UC San Diego where State lost to the host Tritons 5-4 to take fourth.

The Aztecs will face the Gauchos of Santa Barbara this Saturday at 10 a.m. at Bud Kearns Pool. SDSU will look for revenge after UCSB beat State in the final game of the 2001 National Collegiate Select Championship.
