SEATTLE - The 44th-ranked San Diego State women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to 11th-ranked Washington on Friday at the Nordstrom Tennis Center on the UW campus.
The Aztecs only win on the day came in No. 3 doubles, with the team of Indra Erichson and Julie Chidley defeating the Huskies' Erin Hoe and Ilona Kordonskaya, 8-4.
While SDSU (2-1) was swept in singles play, three of the matchups provided excitement. Play at No. 1 singles was tight with SDSU's Silvia Tornier losing to UW's Darija Klaic, 6-4, 7-5. SDSU's Lindsey Hedberg won the first game in No. 2 singles, 6-4, only to drop the next two games, 6-4, 6-2. After losing the first game in No. 5 singles, 7-5, the Aztecs' Katey Becker posted a 6-4 advantage in the second game but went on to lose in the tiebreaker.
