SAN DIEGO - The 44th-ranked San Diego State women's tennis team opened the 2002 spring season Saturday with 7-0 victories over Saint Mary's and Cal Poly at the SDSU Tennis Courts.
The Aztecs won 25 of 26 singles sets and all six pro-set doubles sets in cruising to their sixth and seventh consecutive victories at home.
The ranked doubles team of Lindsey Hedberg and Silvia Tornier coasted to a pair of 8-1 victories. The Aztec duo is ranked 60th nationally. Both juniors also won singles matches for San Diego State. The two both played one match at number one singles and number two singles.
The Aztecs start a strech of six consecutive matches against nationally-ranked teams next Friday and Saturday when SDSU plays at 28th-ranked Washington State and top-ranked Stanford.
