The Records: San Diego State is 9-4 after claiming its fourth victory in five games with a 90-72 victory over IPFW (Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne) on Wednesday at Cox Arena. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi is 5-8 following a 65-63 loss at San Francisco on Saturday night.
SDSU Coach Steve Fisher: Fisher (Illinois State '67) is in his third season at San Diego State with a record of 28-41. Now in his 11th full season he has amassed a 212-123 mark. Fisher led Michigan to the 1989 national championship and made three trips to the national championship game in his eight full seasons in Ann Arbor. The 1991-92 national coach of the year led the Aztecs to a 14-14 mark last year.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Coach Ronnie Arrow: Arrow (Southwest Texas State '69) is in his third season with the Islanders and owns a 32-35 mark. In his 10th season overall, Arrow owns a 145-128 record. He guided South Alabama to two NCAA tournaments and was named the Sun Belt Coach of the Year on two ocassions.
The Series: San Diego State leads the series 1-0 following an 84-70 victory over the Islanders last season (Jan. 4, 2001). Randy Holcomb (26), Al Faux (22) and Myron Epps (21) all scored in double figures for the Aztecs who led by double digits the final 22 minutes of the game.
