SAN DIEGO (AP) - San Diego State's Randy Holcomb scored 23 points and had five rebounds in an 86-58 victory over Eastern Washington on Thursday night.
The Aztecs scored 13 consecutive points over a four-minute span at the end of the first half and the beginning of the second to blow open a tight game and lead 46-31.
Holcomb scored the first seven points for the San Diego State in the second half and established the low post for the Aztecs (7-3).
San Diego State, a member of the Mountain West Conference, expanded its lead to 53-32 at the 15:35 mark on a 3-pointer by guard Tony Bland and was in control the rest of the way.
The Aztecs had four players in double figures. Mike Mackell chipped in 16 points, Al Faux had 15, and Bland added 13.
Eastern Washington (5-6), of the Big Sky Conference, was led by forward Chris Hester with 14 points.
The win gives the Aztecs six consecutive home wins, a Cox Arena record and is the third victory overall in the row for San Diego State, following impressive wins versus Fresno State and Hawaii.
In front of 4,694, the Aztecs struggled at times in the first half. The Eagles took a 20-15 lead with 10 minutes to play in the first half after a jump shot by Hester.
San Diego State, however, rallied for a 24-11 advantage for the remainder of the first half.
The Eagles weren't able to mount much offense in the second half and their defense couldn't contain the more athletic Aztecs.
San Diego State held a 55 to 35 shooting percentage advantage and a 41-27 rebounding edge.
